But like, realtime and pretty!"  @arbalister @woolhatwoman I think it's got more in common with fidonet than usenet, but there's a little of each in here and a lot else besides. @ajroach42 @woolhatwoman ah Fido, there's a blast from the past. I *was* an ISP in the early days, lol, so maintaining a UseNet feed was my go-to. Used Fido, but was nevera sysop. @strypey @arbalister @woolhatwoman who was in control? Who could be? How was content moderated? How many people were there? Usenet was big and formal. But yeah, close enough. @woolhatwoman @ajroach42 I'm still trying to wrap my hands/mind around Mastodon but that's my initial takeaway. Decentralized, everything being on different servers; This is oddly old-school for 2022 internet.
