@Katescoot Nah! Gargron built the software we all use, and giving him money is helpful to keep him supporting the software.

His work has largely been good in spite of his frequently contentious relationship with the community, and he built a lot of the foundation we're all standing on (though certainly not *all* of it. Many of us contributed, including the folks who got Activitypub standardized)

The deal is that he probably needs the money less than the person that runs the instance you're using. I dunno, I don't know much about the instance you're using, but generally speaking us instance admins fund our work out of pocket, and lose money keeping this place open.
