@ajroach42 In 70s Britain there was a #sitcom called Citizen Smith about Wolfie Smith, a young Marxist “urban guerrilla" in Tooting, London. The catchphrases were “Freedom for Tooting” and “Power to the people”. #freedom4tooting #powertothepeople

@ajroach42 Totally legit! Weird huh? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen_Smith @dejoslin @ajroach42 It was a great show, pitching the foibles of both Capitalist and Communist camps against each other. BBC at its best. #FREEDOMFORTOOTING! @IndigoSkye It’s just bizarre. We live in strange times, that’s for sure. @dejoslin you're not wrong there. One if my favourite films is V for Vendetta. It makes far more uncomfortable yet relevant watching now. Especially in the light of the last few years. @IndigoSkye Alan Moore is a visionary! That’s such an incredible film. I need to rewatch that. @dejoslin He certainly is and the parallels in that film, with real life over the last few years, are stark! @dejoslin @ajroach42 I remember it well! Dated now with the daft mother we all laughed at but it was fun at the time. Reader, we knew not what we did. Mea culpa. @dejoslin @ajroach42 Yes old enough to have watched it. From non-socialist Eltham, not far away. |
@dejoslin is this real? Holy shit
