@freakazoid @ajroach42 What would be interesting to me if it really took off in popularity, how established players would try to position themselves to monopolize it. Like, I could completely imagine that Google could quickly produce their own Mastodon instance, build it into Chrome, which would instantly become the most popular and stable instance. Apple would jump in 5 years later and add a bunch of Apple-y features that you can only see if you are using their instance through an iPhone.
