Hey new followers! Welcome to the fediverse. Tell me something that excites you, that makes you feel alive. Tell me about your goals, the things you want to create.
That's what, for the most part, I'll be telling you about.

@freakazoid @ajroach42 What would be interesting to me if it really took off in popularity, how established players would try to position themselves to monopolize it. Like, I could completely imagine that Google could quickly produce their own Mastodon instance, build it into Chrome, which would instantly become the most popular and stable instance. Apple would jump in 5 years later and add a bunch of Apple-y features that you can only see if you are using their instance through an iPhone. @ajroach42
Currently I'm migrating my microservice server from the hodgepodge I've built over the last five years into something as stateless as possible, which means I get to learn about Docker and Traefik. @ajroach42 Slow travel! Gardens! Dogs and cats! Relationships! Mosaic! Funk and R&B, classic ROCK! @sparklingspirit Check out the newest track from @DoctorDeathray which she shared recently. https://doctordeathray.bandcamp.com/track/outrageous-fortune-2 @ajroach42 the ocean! I want to explore the ocean, and since I can’t afford a science vessel I ended up making my own ocean exloration simulator 😀 @ajroach42 researching, playing, and making videos about old and obscure video games. @ajroach42 yeah, I've got a youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoDQj54Gd-w8RTdukMrQScQ Covers games that never saw a US release, mods, romhacks, and video game history. Used to have a podcast devoted to the topic, but I wasn't able to devote all the time needed to clean up everybody's audio every week. @ajroach42 I mean professionally I write novels and make games, but the video game history stuff I do for free. To me that makes it a more pure passion. If I was able to find a full time job that eliminated profit motive from the stuff I make, it'd get a lot weirder, and a lot more passionate. @mcoorlim I love that. Let me take a look at your videos. We run a small anticapitalist streaming service for our town, and I'm always looking for new folks who may want to participate ( @NewEllijayTV ) @mcoorlim Hell yeah! Maybe we can work together. @DoctorDeathray and @Username_Here_ASAP and @djsundog and @Ricardus and @connor_dylan and @TaxDan have all been involved in various capacities. @ajroach42 very excited to mulch mulch mulch all winter and potato potato potato in the spring |
@ajroach42 The most exciting thing for me in a while has been the idea that a scrappy little free-software-based network could potentially become the new global town square. Like, even the possibility has completely changed the conversation, so it's not that important that it actually happens.
It's been hard for me to think about anything else, lately. Even if it's not the Fediverse, the idea of #CoopSocialMedia is in the air.
