@Qoon @yogthos Look, I'm not saying you should be tarred and feathered for having a Nazi in your family (provided you've disowned them), and I 100% agree that you are not and should not be defined by your ancestors or relatives. But, what pisses me off is that every time I hear a young German (usually on Reddit) say that when being associated with Nazis, it's always with such arrogance and insensitivity. As if by associating them with Nazis, you're worse. @Qoon @yogthos They say it less like "I understand that the Nazis were horrible and I feel for the victims, but please understand that I'm not and never was a Nazi, and most Germans today aren't. It's unfair to associate me with them" and more "Go fuck yourself you ass, just because my ancestors committed genocide doesn't give you the right to bring it up with me!"  |
@Qoon @yogthos Dude, I feel guilt when I'm with my dad on the rare times he acts like a male Karen and spazes out at a waiter. I can't even imagine how much guild I'd feel if one of my (not very distant mind you) ancestors committed genocide.
