@darius @djsundog @nev I thought it came from a user centric ask: if you go to the website for say Krita or Inkscape, there is one, maybe two, Windows installers, one Mac installer, maybe store links for one, the other, both. Yet there’s something like a dozen Linux options some are installers with UI, some are package names to look up in a package manager, others are arcane bits of command lines and goat sacrifices.
