@bamfic @wakest @cwebber @sean I mean, I simply disagree with that interpretation as a universal rule but there are definitely communities that follow that rule. I try to check people's bios before I follow because sometimes they say "please interact before following" or whatnot. It's basically what happens when you get context collapse, like some people on Twitter consider @-replying a person you don't know to be really rude and others do not.
