@gamingonlinux How much do you think Microsoft paid EA to say and do this? @gamingonlinux Nah, saying Linux "iS fUlL oF cHeAtErS" is pure monopolistic and out of touch. Like Microsoft. Microsoft only "loves" Linux to enrich themselves and entrench themselves. Short of an anti-trust suit and a forced opening up of Windows APIs, the anti-cheat situation may not be fixable without violating copyright laws. @cameronbosch that's not what they're saying though, is it, let's not make silly stories they're saying Linux as a platform enables actual cheaters to do their thing, which it does, as we've heard time and time again it's not that legit Linux users cheat, it's that it's easier to do so on Linux @gamingonlinux Also, Liam, did you ACTUALLY think these companies are trustworthy!? @gamingonlinux So this impacts "...a small number of Apex players" and yet is supposed to meaningfully reduce instances of cheating? Something doesn't quite add up to me. @gamingonlinux Another game I will never touch again. EA is garbage. Won't be playing anything else from that awful company anytime soon. @gamingonlinux and nothing was lost - I have plenty of other things I can play. Bye bye apex. @gamingonlinux I was JUST THE OTHER DAY considering coming back to Apex, haven't played a fun BR with my friends in a while... guess that's not happening. I can't wait to see how this makes little to no difference in preventing cheaters from cheating in their game. But at least they tried, right? @gamingonlinux โOur dev team wanted to provide a bit more contextโฆโ read: We canโt be bothered or donโt know how to figure out anti-cheat on Linux. Whilst I agree with your comment Valve probably need to do something, so do game developers. The Steam Deck has made Linux more mainstream and developers can just keep making excuses now. Well they can I guessโฆ @gamingonlinux let's eliminate the cheater problem once and for all - block it from running on Windows as well! @gamingonlinux so, game devs are falling back to their stance when Proton became popular: "but-but we can't install spyware on Linux, so we will block it completely!" I can't remember now but I have a vague memory that some game banned Linux and the number of cheaters remained the same after the ban... @gamingonlinux is there any chance to get some statistics from these companies? Something more than "linux open, cheats bad"? @gamingonlinux It is sad that list of Pvp competive games is getting shorter. Pretty much only available games are from Valve, Blizzard (switch is Microsoft now so I am worried for those games) and few random one like Guild Wars. Also FaceIt is core part of some games like CSGO, so even if game is supported on Linux that doesn't mean that the "hardcore comp" is available. @gamingonlinux damn, these are what your replies r like? no wonder ppl complain about masto being annoying Linux nerds (You obviously are used to covering this space, but even so they're doing way too much ๐ฎโ๐จ) @gamingonlinux users can still play Apex Legends on Steam Deck "if the user opts to install Windows." Our entire point of being on linux is because we have enormous patience and deep down we know that linux is going to win the whole world. Its #inevitable and we don't need Thanos to say it. At the same time some days we really hope Valve will speed up its selling of steam decks to the world. Australia this month! Right? Right!? |
@gamingonlinux Can't have nice things no... :sadmsn:
