@lednaBM Oh I could be such a rich son of a bitch had I chosen that profession. My own private plane, big mansion.

@lednaBM "[I]t is hard to see how a man who has been given a mandate from on High to spread tidings of joy to all mankind can be seriously interested in taking up a collection to pay his salary; it causes one to suspect that the shaman is on the moral level of any other con man.

On the other hand, using religion to shape society and future generations using atheist morals may be the only way forward for some people.

What is the difference between a cult and a religion? In a cult, the people at the top all know it's a fraud. In a religion, those people are dead.

Ángela Stella Matutina

@jeffowski @lednaBM

What? Do you think the half-dead white motherfuckers at the Vatican are believers? They're politicians. Religion is a front. Marketing. They're fucking power brokers.

Binro the Heretic (he/him)

@angelastella @jeffowski @lednaBM

They can be both true believers and power brokers. They're not mutually exclusive.

You don't make it to the top of the crime family high on your own supply.

Binro the Heretic (he/him)

@angelastella @jeffowski @lednaBM

So? It costs nothing to believe in delusions. Your analogy doesn't work.

Beliefs. Delusions. Cognitive pathogens. Things people made up to manipulate others by shutting down thought. Use whatever name you feel comfortable with.

Binro the Heretic (he/him)

@angelastella @jeffowski @lednaBM

And what is the basis for your assertion that the Catholic Church is run by non-believers?

Binro the Heretic (he/him) replied to Ángela Stella Matutina

@angelastella @jeffowski @lednaBM

It sounds like you're saying believers inherently behave morally while non-believers behave immorally.

Why would you believe this?

Ángela Stella Matutina replied to Binro the Heretic (he/him)

@BinroHeretic @jeffowski @lednaBM

You're jumping to conclusions. I say they would behave differently, not morally. I'm a fucking atheist, for God's sake! 🤣

Look, research it for yourself. I just cracked open a bottle of gin and it's my purpose to get drunk within the next hour.

Interesting conversation.
Suffice to say, some of the most morally reprehensible shit the human race has ever done has been by true believers.

Greed and power--while morally wrong--can be easily understood, even reasoned with...depending.

However, if you want a true slaughter...well, that will require a FANATIC (read 'true believer').☠️

Ángela Stella Matutina replied to Kid

@clintruin @BinroHeretic @jeffowski @lednaBM

True believers are detectable. And then you fight them like the subhuman monsters they are.

And no, you can't reason with the greedy and power-hungry. Again, you fight them.

We could sacrifice the 1% but we choose not to. Wonder why. Maybe they'll take care of us stupid nonconformists and bring peace for the upstanding citizens?

You misunderstand.
This is merely a personal belief. I have no desire to put this philosophy into action. But the truth is the truth.
It has always seemed to me that my existence consisted purely and exclusively of nothing but the most outrageous nonsense.

If they were believers, I think they would live by what their book tells them: love, sharing, protecting the weak.

You can't just go preach that shit to the poor while sitting on billions in a castle surrounded by gold and riches, and be a believer.

@angelastella @jeffowski @lednaBM

Binro the Heretic (he/him)

@axnxcamr @angelastella @jeffowski @lednaBM

Sure you can. Believers have blind spots, too.

That being said, they're a bunch of liars, hypocrites, and con artists. But I don't doubt for a minute that they believe the shit they spew.

Sylvain Drapeau

@BinroHeretic

I agree on that point... I mean the liars, hypocrites and con artists part.

For the rest, it's hard to know what's in someone's mind so we may never know.

Binro the Heretic (he/him)

@axnxcamr @angelastella @jeffowski @lednaBM

Yes, which is why I asserted that they're not mutually exclusive.

@lednaBM ideally atheists don't have morals, we have ethics and empathy

@dogonline I see what you mean, but there's no point to being ethical without the certainty of contemporary morality.
