@ruari when checking online to see if I was correct on the origin of the name, I discovered that it's a "see you Jimmy hat" which confirmed my recollection (originated from a very unfunny character by a very unfunny comedian called Russ Abbot)..what I learned along the way is that in some parts of Scotland a "jimmy hat" is the name for a condom.
