The Ebou macOS #TestFlight is here! It explores a different kind of Mastodon experience.I'm eager to learn whether it works for you. @terhechte Love the idea! I’ve been toying with a similar concept myself even before coming to Mastodon. Just two things that would make this “feed" much easier to follow (for me): (a) Add some extra visual distinction to “contacts” that have new toots aside from being at the top of the timeline. (b) Move “read” contacts below “unread” contacts. So there is a chronological list of accounts with unread toots, and then a similar chronological list with already read toots?  @terhechte Love the concept and joined the TestFlight, but I seem to be unable to log in from my (Hometown) instance. @terhechte I really like the idea and the app. Thank you very much for your work!  @terhechte Howdy. I’m the project steward over at Firefish & Spacehost, but also developing Mastodon extensions. I really like what I’ve read about Ebou. I assume the conversation grouping works with standard ActivityPub, as is, and merely makes a more pleasant UX for those who use it as a personal timelines browser? I ask b/c some suggested that ou’re also extending the AP protocol to make this convo grouping a new feature of the masto API. I doubted that, but anything is possible :) - Matt @shoq Hey! Indeed, I'm just paging ~3-4 timeline requests and then grouping it locally. This kinda works but has the obvious downside of taxing the server and slowing down the initial load. I'm sure a server-side implementation could offer a much better experience but I'd guess that's a lot of work (without knowing too much about the architecture tbh.). |

@terhechte Will give it a try, adding to other 4 Mastodon apps I have been testing. It is really exciting to see the growth of a community, such great ideas and different approaches.
