I wrote a new article : How to contest a Content ID claim from a song you made.

If you are composing and sharing music under Creative Commons license, you may be in this situation at some point. So here are ways to contest/remove a Content ID claim and to make your music free again from Content ID abusers. :CreativeCommons:

Wow, this is super detailed and useful thanks for writing and sharing!

I hope I'll never have to use it 🀞

@rrrrroseazerty These strikes are annoying and spurious, done by agencies hoping to make money.
You should be able to whitelist your YouTube channel as well.

@rrrrroseazerty If your distributor is adding the ID check service (whatever that's called) they have a list. Otherwise, it's been so long I don't remember. There was a company that did it for me.

@rrrrroseazerty Wow, that's complicated! I only deal with YouTube, but have dealt with Content ID claims on recordings I've made of old music, not covered by copyright. Each time so far, it's been successfully solved through the built-in appeal process.

I assume the reason you're taking the longer route is to get rid of it from all platforms at once?

So far, my experience has also been different in that the claimants hasn't been random trolls, but major music publishers. (Most likely because they've published another recording of the music and lazily vacuumed up all rights, including those they don't have.)

As I said, the appeal process has worked for me, but I doubt I'd be able to make contact with someone like Sony using your method.

@rikard actually, i think legal teams from Sony are quite reactive in that matter.
Yeah, my process is to remove the claims for everyone, not just to contest once because distro don't actually remove the Content ID targeting if you just contest in the Youtube section, you need to actively ask for it to the distro.
