4.3 is much more efficient. I really appreciate the grouped notifications, the byline, a better graphic presentation, thanks @Gargron the new notification filtering settings are absolutely fantastic, and perfectly timed so I could ignore the masses of Japanese spam mentions I've been getting all week @Gargron @Gargron i don't think my server is on 4.3 yet, but when it does get upgraded, I'll definitely try it out for a week instead of Phanpy to see all the things that have been added @Gargron Upgrade worked fine, even with the very specific patches on https://orfodon.org Popups with User informations look nice. Notifications are much better now in my opinion Sorting included Images is a very nice feature as well Thanks! Seems the issue where editing a post would lose all the ALT text on the media is fixed in 4.3. π @Gargron It's only minor, but I really like that the Web Client can now automatically switch between light mode and dark mode. @Gargron just read my blog post :mastoinnocent: Easy... - New icons are rad @Gargron I'm loving the updated alt button. It's so much easier to read them (when they exist) to see if I can boost them. And I really like the updated interface. And the admin of the server I use updated the CSS so that images without an alt have a red border. (Maybe something for a future upgrade?) @Gargron I was blown away by the new look interface on the web. Looks so up-to-date. @Gargron I really like the byline feature that emphasizes the authors of certain articles. I hope other Mastodon clients will adapt this feature soon. @Gargron I know this is rather basic, but it looks and feels like a major platform now. If you'd called 5.0 I would have believed you. @Gargron the grouped notifications and revised compose block in particular are aces. Very clearly, though, a lot of work has gone into this across the board. @Gargron The UI feels significantly more responsive, and the bundled notifications are a wonderful usability upgrade. Thanks to all involved for the hard work! @Gargron I wish that very old mentions could be deleted. Thank you I love the app. ππ» @Gargron the design is really awesome whilst staying true to the Mastodon vibe Grouped notifications are a dream come true Notifications filter are what's gonna destroy any future spam attack. Just really good work overall!! @Gargron i just want fewer nazis on this site and better tools for people subjected to racial hatred. that's it. @Gargron I love the new look, the grouped notifications are nice and the automatic system theme is a godsent! @Gargron Grouped notifications _alone_ make it a superb update. Fantastic work, especially given how comparatively small the Mastodon developer team is. @Gargron it's a little thing but the direct link in the nav to Moderation is a pleasant sight. Also love the thread lines and how easy it was to customize their color. @Gargron Just upgraded (like, 30 seconds ago), and for now I love the fact that the UI switches from light to dark with the system, and that the compose text box is much more intuitive. I will go through more options and features this week, of course. 1. the somewhat simplified backend changes for increasing max post character count and max profile bio character count are both great 2. better illuminated alt text reminder on images is great 3. the backend security enhancements are awesome 4. the move away from ImageMagick is awesome curious about the future of Redis curios why i can't get nautical.social on your joinmastodon/servers page cheers @Gargron I appreciate the tweaks to the post editor. If I want to do something more complicated than just bang out text and hit the send button, it's really clear how to do it. @Gargron Grouped notifications! I love that my notifications are useful even after posting a Caturday photo! Big win! π It feels like it is running more efficiently but it was a bitch to upgrade with all the sub programs needing to be upgraded... @Gargron @Gargron I'm on mastodon.social so I've seen a few of the new features as they were tested here. The notification grouping is really nice because it keeps me from being swamped by individual notifications. I also noticed the little popup for journalists who are on the fediverse a while back and it felt really nice to see Mastodon embracing credible journalists in this way. Keep up the solid work. Mastodon is officially my only social media platform and I'm happy to watch it grow, π @Gargron The UI refresh is another iteration of better, looks pretty great. Iβm a huge fan of the fediverse meta tag, things that enable interoperability through open standards are always cool. @Gargron I love that Mastodon does everything I want it to do, and it is not controlled by a billionaire or massive social media company. Lol @Gargron I'm on a few Mastodon servers as a user, and I haven't looked for or noticed any changes of features, yet. @Gargron I don't think this is specific to 4.3 but I was thrilled I got threaded replies in the Android app. Thank you! https://mastodon.social/@juancnuno/113255578408864963 @Gargron thanks so much to the team--I noticed the bundling thing on a popular tweet before it was official and it was wonderful! Thanks so much everyone. Good call. @Gargron My life has greatly improved with the new release. My posts seem more erudite, with concomitant profundity. My spouse actually spoke to me this morning. I've lost 18.4 kilograms, and my IQ increased 22 points (I'm now over 100!). Cats prefer my company and mosquitoes seem to bite other people. All thanks to the new and improved Mastodon! Kudos! @Gargron Web interface is quite snazzy. The server upgrade was a breeze on my 1-man instance. Love the notifications, filter notifications, and how easier it is to read the alt text. Love 4.3 so @Gargron Unfortunately, there is not enough space in the field to describe everything π π π«Άπ» @Gargron it looks fresher in the UI, seems quicker and I assume consumes a little less resources due to the split containers. Also the upgrade process was easy and worked like a Charme. Patching for more character posts has also gotten much easier now. Much appreciated ππ«Ά @Gargron my personal favorite is the support of the simple yet very effective Fedi author tag. Iβm going to add it to the matrix.org website. I think it can be a good incentive for guests to help us write about Matrix and giving the rest of their work exposure. One of the most social features of mastodon yet! @Gargron That it's not a fucking nazi platform. I'm an autistic woman and I can actually speak my mind here-- and NOWHERE ELSE. I get censored on Instagram for telling the truth. I deleted my Twitter account when Elon bought it because fuck white supremacists. @Gargron @Gargron The new "you boosted this" icon is great. Relying on only colour difference before was sub-optimal. I finally seem to no longer have to pre-emptively set video playback volume to other than 100%, it's remembering what I last set! Yay! @Gargron Is there a summary of the changes somewhere? From my perspective I haven't noticed much. @Gargron Hate to be that guy, but for iOS, the personal profile page has column-inches of dead space due to the profile pic. 1. Poll Results button to filter polls under notifications is a highlight. I had to bookmark them before. 2. Group notifications is another one. 3. I like the new design especially now the text seems more readable. 4. Toot compose area also feels more friendly now. @Gargron among the many things 4.3 brings to the table, the redesigned emails are a great update, very polished, I'm really happy to see them. Kudos to you and the team for getting 4.3 out, along with the care and attention paid to making it smooth and painless for the thousands and thousands of web sites using the software.π @Gargron It's snappier and nice. But it seems to me it consumes way more resources than before. I had to almost double my PG Bouncer clients... @Gargron I know this is probably a bit off of what you were asking for, but I like your release notes on GitHub. They're will structured, with a couple single line notes about necessary admin actions up front, and then some in depth descriptions of the most interesting new features. I also appreciated the detailed update instructions. Mastodon's release notes genuinely stand out among the projects I'm running in my Homelab. @Gargron @Gargron Honestly, the new look is great. I can really see all the hard work that was put into this update. Excellent work! |
@Gargron I Don like changes. But it has a modern look.
