@python could you change the wiki link to point to minecraft.wiki/ (the new wiki)? fandom is bad

nil :demisexual_flag:

@Kazhumazu @python presumably, yes. at a reasonable framerate, very likely not

Snektron

@nil @Kazhumazu looks like cnlohr was able to compile and run doom on their emulator at least, so in theory it's possible already and you just need to get the image from here: github.com/cnlohr/mini-rv32ima I'm not sure that I have the patience for waiting for that to start up, though...

Samuel Hautamäki

@python "a full boot should take about 18 hours"

Ezlin

@python

This is technically very cool.

Yet my brain immediately goes to what this means about the security risks of Minecraft. If it can boot an entire O/S inside of it what other, terrible things can it run? 👀

Snektron

@ezlin that depends entirely on how well Minecraft's command interpreter is written. You could probably fill somebody's disk with a bunch of data. I definitely triggered some exceptions in Minecraft while writing this...

Prufrax

@python clearly your next task is getting minecraft running on that linux in minecraft...

Snektron

@prufrax maybe if somebody donates their NASA computer

@python i'm almost inclined to believe RISC-V Linux is a complete meme at this point. first, VScript, then Scratch, now this.

(excluding it running on real-world hw ofc, like the Milk-V Mars CM and the StarFive JH7110 SoC used in Framework's recently-introduced RISC-V-based laptop)
