I got the new Apple Watch last week and the new display really does make a difference for standby mode. The LTPO screen refreshes every second, so now it always shows the second hand. And the wider viewing angle makes glancing at it easier when it’s at a weird angle on your wrist. It feels more like a proper watch.

@samhenrigold > the LTPO screen refreshes every second

ohh this explains a lot, I thought the Series 9 already had this (like the phones as of the 15 Pro I think?) and was always confused why the seconds counter disappeared in the workouts app in wrist-not-turned-towards-me-mode

@samhenrigold the second hand is the thing I’m most jealous about. Long overdue but glad to see it

@samhenrigold I know that it's thinner than before, but do you think it's noticeably thinner?

@andy Not really. I might notice it more when I'm wearing longer sleeves and have to pull the cuff over my watch, but right now the depth and weight change so minute

@samhenrigold Except the watchOS team is terrible with remembering old watch faces exist so only Reflections and Flux show the second hand in always-on mode 🥲
