Same lady who said fraction multiplication and long division by hand was a crucial life skill because “you won’t always have a calculator on you.”

not only is that not true currently, it wasn’t even true at the time. we had casio watches. i always had my ipod touch on me. we had cell phones.

i wish i could be that confidently wrong, it was honestly kind of a slay

@samhenrigold And yet understanding how long division and multiplication by-hand are done is valuable in developing efficient computer code for performing calculations with incredibly large numbers as you have in cryptography. Your calculator won't be of any help nor are the calculator-dependent students.

sam henri gold, hah, I never realized that math teachers saying "you won't always have a calculator on you" is such a universal phenomenon.
