Halide + Kino

Today, we are launching something unlike any tech product in 2024: a product that uses zero AI and zero computational photography to produce natural, film-like photos.

We call it Process Zero.

A new mode in Halide that skips standard iPhone image processing. It produces beautiful, film like shots and allows greater control over lighting and exposure. And there's more…

@jmuspratt @halide

I’m excited too. This feels like the perfect moment for this thoughtful update to drop.

@halide Omg, I’ve been wanting something like this for so long.

@halide [typo note: It turns out we were wrong to worry. As cameras have smarter, Halide has only thrived.

I am so pleased to see non-AI innovation. A genuine relief!

@halide I'm currently on the $9.99/year plan. Will that continue or do I need to up it to the $11.99 plan for Halide MkIII/40% off membership? I'll do whatever it takes–I LOVE this app

@halide Very pumped for this! Noticed 1 thing - a typo on the upgrade button!

Which I was able to still tap :)

@halide Hey! I might be missing something here, or I may very well have misunderstood 2.14 and earlier all along. But what's the difference between Process Zero and shooting plain ol' RAW before now? (I'd long opted for RAW in Halide rather than ProRAW precisely for the reasons you've mentioned in the post.)

@halide funny that long time ago RAW was supposed to mean “process zero” 👻

@halide Thanks for the update, I dig the new mode! But I'm missing the instant preset. Liked it a lot. Is it gone for good?
