@jannuary you have no idea how much I appreciate this post. That's literally the only reason I prefer Android 6 and below @jannuary@tech.lgbt GNOME icons have a good mix of stylization and skeuomorphism, i love the distinctive nature of them while still going together well @jannuary@tech.lgbt sometimes boomers are right. all generations can come together for better future @jannuary I don't think that's a boomer take at all -- I've missed distinctive app shapes for years. It's an accessibility issue for me. @jannuary i have visual processing issues and problems with grids and the move to making everything square or circular has seriously fucked me up much further @forestine @jannuary I remember when the whole "flat" UX thing got rolling. Didn't have the words for it then, but the philosophy behind it always felt a bit fashy. @forestine @jannuary and I guess distinct shapes with clear contrast and colours makes it easier to at a glance pick what you're looking for... @forestine @jannuary I think it's important to also account for that as a means of accessibility and more of that should be mandatory per law instead of letting corporations decide. On Android I do know a #launcher for #eInk screens called RelaunchX that may alleviate the issue a bit... When **Flat UI** came out, I remember thinking, "I paid three thousand bucks for something that I could make in PowerPoint?!?" Bring Back Skeuomorphism! 🤓 @jannuary i hate all of my system tray icons because theyre all circles with slightly different sizes and i keep accidentally clicking on either signal or quod libet trying to access the other . so i might just make an icon theme about it if it annoys me enough |
@jannuary@tech.lgbt I loved the days of Android 5, when the icons were all original and pretty. I dunno why they switched to having all the icons the same.
