@rain It is very funny to me because before I got the laptop I test-drove it on a spare partition on my desktop, and it worked great. Because most of my major issues are due to laptop specific features (touchscreens, hidpi displays, sleep/wake, trackpad [I didn't mention but several of my problems have severe issues with trackpad mousewheel support])

@mcc Yeah, broadly speaking Linux on desktop is a much nicer experience. I think appliance-like handhelds (Steam Deck) have also nailed it, and I suspect we need a Steam Deck-like laptop

@mcc a thing I ran into yesterday -- I use JamesDSP for system-wide equalizing with an AutoEQ profile for my headphones (it's frankly awesome that modern Linux audio just lets you do this). But it kept quitting after 30 seconds or so for some reason. To fix it I had to run `flatpak permission-set background background me.timschneeberger.jdsp4linux yes`. why...

@rain Is it possible this is a permission that JamesDSP should have been requesting, but was not? If so maybe a bug could be filed… :(

@mcc @rain Similar experience with Linux on a desktop vs. a laptop. (Well, a convertible tablet, which makes it even worse.) My desktop has been solid on everything except Nvidia/Wayland incompatibilities and Flatpak/Snap issues for quite a while, but all those laptop form factor-specifics just seem really fragile.
