@mcc I feel the need to apologize for all the "you're not trying hard enough" / "use a different distro" / "use a different laptop" replies.

The firefox thing might be a snap issue. Snap/firefox will refuse to do a lot of things for "security". (Among other things, it will refuse to serve files if there's a hidden folder anywhere in the path to that file, or if the file itself is a dotfile).

@double_a_runi It's a Snap issue. However, on Ubuntu, the Firefox provided *by the OS* is a Snap. So as far as I'm concerned it is a Ubuntu issue. A modern OS should probably ship with a web browser.

Does FlatPak have these issues?

@mcc *cop out reply* the beauty of linux is customizability ?

*serious answer* yeah, ubuntu has not been a distro of choice for me in the past couple years because they keep making questionable decisions. I don't know if flatpak has these issues, at work I am happy to endure this, at home I use native packages where possible.
