@mcc Thanks for posting about this -- as a full time Linux on laptop user I'm frustrated about how badly it sucks for so many people

@mcc a thing I ran into yesterday -- I use JamesDSP for system-wide equalizing with an AutoEQ profile for my headphones (it's frankly awesome that modern Linux audio just lets you do this). But it kept quitting after 30 seconds or so for some reason. To fix it I had to run `flatpak permission-set background background me.timschneeberger.jdsp4linux yes`. why... @mcc @rain Similar experience with Linux on a desktop vs. a laptop. (Well, a convertible tablet, which makes it even worse.) My desktop has been solid on everything except Nvidia/Wayland incompatibilities and Flatpak/Snap issues for quite a while, but all those laptop form factor-specifics just seem really fragile. |
@rain It is very funny to me because before I got the laptop I test-drove it on a spare partition on my desktop, and it worked great. Because most of my major issues are due to laptop specific features (touchscreens, hidpi displays, sleep/wake, trackpad [I didn't mention but several of my problems have severe issues with trackpad mousewheel support])
