Users across the globe rely on #ProtonVPN to ensure access to the free, uncensored internet.

To make Proton VPN’s anti-censorship features even more accessible, we made it possible to log in to the #Android app without creating an account.

Additionally, earlier this year, we launched an initiative to provide free #ProtonVPN servers in 16 countries holding elections in 2024. Today, we’re expanding it to 5 more countries: protonvpn.com/blog/free-server

@protonprivacy Great work, more of this please! Features for the unprivileged.

@protonprivacy don't use a VPN server in the country you're trying to hide from...

Proton

@leny Note that that's not how our servers in those countries operate. They are using smart routing technology, meaning that they are actually located elsewhere, but appear as if they are in a particular country. They bypass any potential local attempts to restrict the internet, while at the same time allowing users to access local-only content (e.g. government websites).

@protonprivacy I hear you, but then how can I confirm where is the server located?

@protonprivacy

That's great news! This makes it even more accessible to circumvent censorship. Are there plans to roll this out to other platforms such as iOS and Desktop as well?

@protonprivacy
As soon as school ends I plan to move my mail servers to Proton.

Thank you for all that you do.

@protonprivacy is there any difference between the guest account and logging in with a free account?

@protonprivacy

And then converse on a censored platform? Maybe bundle rhe VPN with a secure mastodon like platform with fedi APIs?

@protonprivacy Thanks for making the world a better place to live. There will also be an impending [sham]election in Iran, but you didn't have this country listed. Is there any specific reason behind this decision?
