As I'm nearing the release of @TangerineUI 2.0 (which will come out soon after Mastodon 4.3 is released), I feel it's a good time to remind everyone that I’ve invested an insane amount of time in creating this theme over the past year.

Sure, it is “just a CSS file,” but it's also the result of hundreds of hours spent carefully crafting a nicer visual experience, free for all to use.

So, if you love this theme and actively use it every day, I would be super grateful if you would consider leaving a tip on my Ko-fi page 💛 ko-fi.com/nileane

Side note: if your Mastodon instance is already running on a prerelease version of Mastodon 4.3, you can already install @TangerineUI 2.0!

Check out the latest prerelease of the theme here: github.com/nileane/TangerineUI

Just be sure to upgrade to the final 2.0 release when it comes out, as it will most likely contain some important fixes + support for Mastodon’s newest features.

@nileane pardon me for being a stupid person 😅 but this is a new UI and not an app, correct? I've been unhappy with IceCubes for a while now and am looking for a new mobile interface to use.

Niléane

@jaymerryfield Yes this is an alternative UI for the web app :)

@nileane Okay! Now to figure out how to turn this into my daily driver. :)

@nileane @TangerineUI Hi! As I’m currently sponsoring you on Github, and since you’re linking your Ko-fi it makes me wonder if you have a preference to where I (or other people) donate? If one is financially (or in network effect) more interesting?

Niléane

@tixie Sponsoring via GitHub is perfectly fine, too! 😊

@nileane @TangerineUI do you know if anyone was able to make it work with Arc Boosts?

I’m on a big instance so it's unrealistic to expect the admins to install Tangerine, but I'd love to give it a try. However it always looked a bit broken when applied through Arc Boosts.

Niléane

@fantinel @TangerineUI Oh does it not work fine with through an Arc Boost?

I'm going to try it and see if it's something I can fix

Matt Fantinel

@nileane @TangerineUI nope, it looks a bit broken. It's like it doesn't apply every rule (maybe some specifity issue?)

I know CSS so I can give it a try as well (though my instance is not on 4.3 yet)! I just didn't know if it was a "yeah it 100% won't work with that" situation or not.

Niléane

@fantinel @TangerineUI oof, yeah something is definitely not right here. I don't know how Arc is injecting CSS.

Matt Fantinel

@nileane @TangerineUI it looks like the Boost CSS is being injected BEFORE the actual website content, which makes no sense 😵‍💫

Not sure if there's anything you can do on your end.
