Hey X1C fans,
had anyone such strange battery charge behavior? As you can see in the screenshot, charge rate is very low.
My X1 Carbon Gen8 (20U9) loads the battery only very very slowly, happens on both USB-C ports.
The charger works fine on another 20U9 device. The BIOS was updated to the latest version recently, no change.
The net knows a lot about charging problems with Gen7 and Gen9 but nothing about Gen8.

Is that battery just dying?

Maybe @zhenech or @thinkpadmuseum?

@eht16 @zhenech Strange behavior. Never heard of such problems but I’m also not a X1C owner. Did you try asking on thinkpads.com or thinkpad-forum.de?

@eht16 @thinkpadmuseum do you happen to have one of those USB-C power sniffers to see if it really negotiates 65W USB PD?

zhenech

@eht16 @thinkpadmuseum and I assume you tried the usual "reset battery" thing?

eht16

@zhenech @thinkpadmuseum Unfortunately i don't have a power sniffer.

What is the "reset battery" thing?

zhenech

@eht16 @thinkpadmuseum time to buy one, huh?

download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mob PDF page 17 (real page 9) the thing labeled [1]. press it with something thin for like 5 sec.

@zhenech @eht16 I like the first X1C variants - but hard to get at fair prices ina decent state.

Good luck with the battery replacement!

@thinkpadmuseum @eht16 *points at X300* is that an old X1? ;)

@zhenech @eht16 It definitely is what became the X1C. It’s the predecessor to the non-Carbon X1, which iterated into the X1C family. :)

@eht16 @zhenech @thinkpadmuseum My X1C (5th Gen) once had a dead battery, it's first. It was then about 5 years old and had about 500 charging cycles. Oops. 🫣😅
I immediately ordered a new one and replaced it a few days later.

@SignorMacchina @zhenech
@thinkpadmuseum
I guess it will end here with replacing the battery too. Mine is only about three years old and had 223 cycles.

@zhenech thanks. I did the "reset thing" but no change.

I'll yet have to test if there is a notable difference in charging time with and without peripherals (display, keyboard, mouse, USB headset).
