@nixCraft I think you should rather make them pay you for your efforts, since they’re making money out of it. I don’t AI tools are bad in itself. It’s that they don’t license the corpus they’re training on that’s wrong.

@nixCraft SO already has your answers even if you delete them. Deleting your answers will only serve to harm people that are seeking them.

@nixCraft Time for an open, federated alternative. Fortunately everything on there is under CC BY-SA, so someone could archive all the questions, comments, and answers and rehost it on an archive website that could interact with a federated alternative, or rather, that the federated alternative could interact with so new answers could show up.

@nixCraft deleting probably won't do much. The whole reddit thing demonstrated that you can't really delete stuff since the service owners control everything.

@nixCraft I never expected to get paid for my SO answers. I wrote them so freeloading developers could freeload on me. I always expected SO as a site would make a few bucks to run the show. My answers were my donation to the universe. What’s the problem here again?

@nixCraft a potential alternative is Codidact, which is essentially a Stack Exchange clone only open source and run by a not-for-profit. It was started up a few years back by ex StackOverflow moderator Monica Cellio (who was fired by SO in another one of their faux pas moments).
