@0xC01DC0FFEE after seeing this picture I checked who posted it because I was expecting @NanoRaptor @peturdainn @0xC01DC0FFEE @NanoRaptor Yet another proof that truth is often stranger than fiction. @peturdainn @0xC01DC0FFEE @NanoRaptor Is there a @NanoRaptor to real connector designs pathway? π @0xC01DC0FFEE usually kinda dig cursed connectors but i hate this with every fiber of my being @0xC01DC0FFEE I was like "oh, haha, another nanoraptor-like connector photoshop job". Then I saw the mouser link.... @0xC01DC0FFEE @ftg @0xC01DC0FFEE my thoughts exactly! Those Phoenix contacts are rated for 8A, vs the ~1.25A for a DB9 (though you get 9 instead of 3). I almost retrofitted a usb phone battery pack because usb-A connectors are terrible with vibration (bicycle). Also one connector is better than 3! That said, now I'm wondering why I never made my own Phoenix adapters either with Sugru or 3d printing. @me @0xC01DC0FFEE better indirectly physically painful I guess, rather than directly from having to touch that after installation. @0xC01DC0FFEE didn't know @NanoRaptor started producing actual cursed connectors now @0xC01DC0FFEE this makes me unreasonably upset. It even has a little dust cap for the screw terminals @0xC01DC0FFEE Like, if it was screw terminals on the back but regular DSub on the front I'd get it, but why this? Why??? Dx @0xC01DC0FFEE The mating connector somehow looks badly photoshopped but I don't think it is. Truly cursed. @0xC01DC0FFEE seems well constructed to me. You can add a shield and screw it in safely! :blobcat_thumbsup:β @0xC01DC0FFEE Could be worse, I suppose. When I saw that I first visually parsed it as screw terminals inside a D-sub shell, which... would be challenging, I guess? @0xC01DC0FFEE@bytearray.eu looks cursed but ngl there are definitely worse ways to put mains power into an rf shielded enclosure |
@0xC01DC0FFEE@bytearray.eu first thought "they're calling that a phoenix contact because it's prone to randomly catching on fire aren't they"
