@fasterthanlime the swedish king traditionally sends a congratulatory telegram to all citizens on their 100th birthday, so we just got our definitions needlessly complicated in '13 @fasterthanlime I really dig Telegram, give me a normal client/server app with an API any day, E2E encryption has too many compromises. I tell people that for organising protests I use Signal, for D&D memes, it's Telegram π @fasterthanlime first fight club then this, am I supposed to keep ALL my secrets secret? π @fasterthanlime hehe, ok cool. That's why I use signals for all my cool, sexy, secret agent things! I gotta have shared chat history, can't miss out on the Astarion memes. (for the young ones following me: every american hoursehold had a telegram line next to the toaster oven in the kitchen until December 31, 1979) @fasterthanlime@hachyderm.io ah did they all dissolve from planned obsolescence on Jan 1 1980, then? @Gaelan @fasterthanlime yeah, it was typed on to a piece of paper, and delivered to your door. Only the sender needed to go visit their local telegram office. @fasterthanlime@hachyderm.io Wellβ¦ I wasn't there before 2000β¦ soβ¦ no. And I don't have the app. Soβ¦ still no. @fasterthanlime last telegram https://gazetawroclawska.pl/wyslalismy-ostatni-historyczny-telegram-dotarl/ar/13538274 28.09.2018 :D @fasterthanlime if im correct, the last telegram sent by any governing body was sent by one town in India to another town in India the same year the Telegram social media platform launched @fasterthanlime -. --- / -.. --- / -. --- / .... .- ...- . / - . .-.. .--. .-. .- --. @fasterthanlime I never used Telegram, because I read about the creators of the platform. Weird expat Russians living in the UAE because they have problems with the mafia, and they run some kinda weird international cult. They inspire less trust than Zuckerberg and Musk. @fasterthanlime Here in Spain, telegrams disappeared on the 2000s. I remember sending notifications by telegram until late 90s, then discovering a text-certified "burofax" (a document sent to post office, then copied down and faxed to a second post office and sent by a postman to its destination) was cheaper. @fasterthanlime I've never used #Telegram but I have used #Telex. |
